Rector's bell

Rector's bell at the Dining hall main table

The Rector's bell is a tiny bell that is rung at the end of a meal to announce its conclusion by the Senior Master at Breakfast, the Rector at Lunch, and the Master on Duty at Dinner.

Testimonial[edit]

Double quote left.gifI like to believe that at lunch, everyone instinctively knew the moment when Rector's hand would go for that bell.
By the time he actually touched it, the Dining Hall had already fallen silent.
It actually rang in the silence that ensued. Hence this Tiny Bell sounded Loud.

At Supper, most Masters on Duty, could have rung it with both hands without it making the Slightest difference.Double quote right.gif
